CSM Cylinder or Weight Stack Covers

See the Ravelry Project

For now for images see my Scrapbook.

How to make a cover using a ribber. Use a cylinder/ribber that create a tube at a looser stitch setting that will fit over the item your making a cover for. Start and end project yarn tails should be as long as your arm. All projects have scrap yarn before the project and after - which is standard. Start with scrap and add the ribber to verify it’s working then add project yarn. Create a tube that’s long enough that when folded over will cover the item it’s for (plus a couple inches). End with scrap. Take project off the machine and goto one end of the tube. Add darning needle to yarn end and go through each live stitch on the project edge. Remove scrap. No stitches will drop. Do the same on the other end. Now bring ends together like a hat (you are making a cover that’s double thick). Tighten the join and secure with yarn tails. Knot and thread in yarn end and cut off extra. Done. Please see images on the links for clarity. :)

Note: This video shows all the finishing of both ends off the machine - there are many ways to create the same thing - certainly another quicker option is to start the project by working a hung hem (an “on machine hung hem”) to save off machine finishing. The written pattern will reflect this option.

Silent Videos?

I’ve been asked recently why some of my newer videos are silent.

This is my reply: A silent film is easier for me due to ambient noise (especially when so many fans are running on a hot day). I understand at an audio video helps English speakers however I also feel a silent video is more focused, can help English as a second language persons and can help those with hearing difficulties. I am not a fan of chatty videos. But I do appreciate that an audio video does help - I will see about adding audio in the final edit of my next video.
